Overview

This 3-day gorilla tracking safari takes you to Bwindi impenetrable Forest National Park, home to endangered mountain gorillas. The safari is perfect for travelers who want to track gorillas but are in Uganda for a short time or are only interested in Mountain gorillas. It is also perfect for travelers who first go to Kenya and Tanzania for a wildlife safari and do the tracking as an extension safari before going flying back home.

Day 1: Pick up from Kampala or Entebbe and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National park for gorilla tracking

Today after early breakfast, at 6 am, your safari guide from Peak Cruise Safaris will come to pick you from your hotel or at the airport and head to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park in South Western Uganda. You will have a stopover at the equator for a photo moment and a break before you proceed to Bwindi Forest. You will have en route lunch in Mbarara

Bwindi impenetrable Forest National Park is famous for gorilla tracking of the endangered mountain gorillas. There are about 880 mountain gorillas a live in the whole world and half of them call Uganda home. Mountain gorillas cannot live in a zoo and the only chance you have to see them is by signing up for this safari or other Uganda wildlife safaris.

Coming up close and personal with the gentle giant mountain gorillas is a breath-taking experience, a once in a while experience

You will get at the lodge in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: The Day of Gorilla Tracking.

Today is the day you have been waiting for. You will wake up early, have your good breakfast. Your guide will then transfer you to the park offices where you will be briefed about the dos and don’ts of gorilla tracking and what to expect on your gorilla tracking adventure

After the briefing, with ranger guides from Uganda wildlife Authority, you will begin your trek into the Impenetrable Forest. You will learn about the forest, the different wildlife and bird life of the forest and of course about the mountain gorillas and how they are conserved.

Gorilla tracking can take place from 1 hour to 8 hours depending on where they nested the previous night. Coming face to face with the kingdom of mountain gorillas is very exciting, and experience like no other. Spending one hour with the gorillas will be life changing, an adventure you will never forget. We advise you to take as many photos as you can, but to also spare a moment to just take in the moments. You will only be with the gorillas for one hour, at a distance of 7 metres to avoid contact.

After your trek, you will have lunch in the forest, return to the park offices for a ‘small ceremony’

Your guide will be waiting to transfer you to the lodge for dinner and overnight
