Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

On arrival at the Kigali International Airport (KGL), you are picked up by a skilled driver-guide who transfers you to the stunning Nyungwe Forest National Park. En-route, visit the Murambi Genocide Memorial and the Museum of Natural History to learn more about the victims that survived the tragic Genocide in which many lost their dear lives. Afterward, break off for lunch then transfer to check-in your lodge/ hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Lake Kivu

Wake up early have breakfast then transfer to the Park headquarters for a briefing on the dos and don’ts around the chimpanzees then later transfer to the Cyamudongo Forest where you track the chimpanzees. Track the chimpanzees for two to four hours in groups of eight with a skilled park ranger and when you meet them, only an hour is allowed in their presence. En-route, watch various other primates like the L’Hoest monkey, Grey-cheeked Mangabey and numerous birds. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Boat cruise on Lake Kivu then Volcanoes National Park

Wake up, have breakfast then transfer to enjoy a boat cruise along the beautiful Lake Kivu which offers you scenic views of the green islands at a distance, bird species as well as the beach. After the cruise, embark on your transfer to the stunning Volcanoes National park and when you get there, proceed directly to check in your lodge/ hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and Iby’Iwachu cultural village

Wake up early have breakfast then transfer to the park headquarters for briefing on the dos and don’ts around the mountain gorillas then in groups of eight with an experienced ranger guide, enter the forest to track the mountain gorillas for three to five hours and when you meet them, only an hour is allowed to stay in their presence taking numerous photos to keep for memories. After trekking, break off for lunch then later transfer to the Iby’iwachu Cultural Village located a few kilometers outside the park to enjoy remarkable cultural encounters from the local Rwandese. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Dian Fossey hike and departure

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to hike to the Dian Fossey Tomb located along Mount Bisoke Volcano. You hike in groups with a skilled park ranger and when you reach there, learn about the life of a dedicated primatologist who gave up her life to save that of the mountain gorillas that were illegally hunted at the time. After your hike, transfer back to the headquarters to embark on your transfer back to Kigali International Airport (KGL) to board your flight back home.
