In Uganda, the activity is carried out at Bwindi Impenetrable National park and Mghahinga national park. In Rwanda, gorilla trekking is carried out at Volcanoes National Park. Uganda’s national parks of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National park support approximately half of the world’s remaining population of the endangered mountain gorillas. These primates live in small groups led by a dominant male silver-back. The rare and endangered species occupy the deeper parts of the forest and need to be habituated in human presence before a limited amount of viewing can take place. Small supervised groups of visitors have the opportunity of climbing through the dense forests to view these primates in the surrounding. Today there are 12 habituated mountain Gorilla families which you can enjoy viewing on your Uganda safari tour. 11 families are in Bwindi Impenetrable park while 1 is available in Mgahinga Gorilla Park.
