Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport (KGL) – Musanze

After completion of customs and immigration formalities, you will meet Peak Cruise Safaris’s representative / your safari driver guide at the airport. You will have your safari briefing and then drive to Musanze in the northwest part of Rwanda, the main base town for gorilla tracking.

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park – Mountain Gorillas trek

After your morning wake-up call and breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking formalities and briefing by the Volcanoes National Park’s guides on the gorillas’ etiquette. You will be assigned to a specific group of gorillas. Your trek will vary in length depending on which gorilla group you have been assigned to.

After locating your assigned gorilla group, you will spend 1 hour in their company before retracing your steps back down the volcano slopes. You will have lunch at the lodge. Your afternoon will be spent at leisure with an optional visit to the little known but compellingly beautiful twin lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo.

Day 3: Golden Monkeys trek – Departure

After an early breakfast, you will again drive to the park headquarters where you will have briefings and formalities for the golden monkeys trekking. The golden monkeys are rare, beautiful, and distinctive bamboo-associated primates of the blue monkey family and endemic to the Albertine Rift Valley.

These adorable apes will keep you marveling at the wonder of how they carry out their daily activities and the way they are closely related to the human beings, also they are tremendously fun to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees. After golden monkeys trekking, you will have lunch and then enjoy the scenic transfer back to Kigali with onward transfer to the airport for your evening outbound flight.
